GOLF SE JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

 

Golf is a game for life and it teaches valuable life skills such as honesty, respect, courtesy, perseverance and sportsmanship.

 

Golf SE Junior Development Program aims to provide tuition and valuable on course experience for young golfers from Beginner to Advanced level and provides a defined development pathway to enable all participants to achieve their goals. We encourage all players to be supportive of each other and respect the facilities provided. Experienced players are encouraged to mentor the younger and beginner players and assist the coaches when asked.

 

The Golf SE Junior Development Program is made up of three development pathway stages:

  • ACADEMY SQUAD : For handicapped golfers under 18.0 G.A (boys) and 27.0 G.A (girls)
  • DEVELOPMENT SQUAD: For handicapped golfers ranging from 19.0 G.A – 36+ (boys) and 28.0 – 45+ (girls)
  • FUTURES PROGRAM: For beginners who have not yet received a handicap or are just beginning to play golf

 

 

FUTURES PROGRAM

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE FUTURES PROGRAM:

The Golf SE Futures Program is based on the National Junior Development MyGolf Program and is designed for 5 to 12 year old’s. The futures program is a starting point for golfers and utilises the DISCOVER stage from the National Golf Development Framework as a basis for player development.

 

The Futures program will be conducted using equipment and activities designed for children with an emphasis on skill development through a mix of coaching, team games and fun. All coaching / practice sessions and activities are carried out by qualified coaches with assistance from experienced club volunteers.

 

No golfing experience is needed. Participants will have the opportunity to make new friends and meet other boys and girls interested in playing golf. We welcome parents to come along at any time to see your child in action.

 

Golf South East is registered as an official MyGolf Centre and all participants in our Futures program are required to register and pay online. Find the details on the MyGolf website www.mygolf.org.au by entering the postcode 5279 OR the name Golf South East.

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEVELOPMENT SQUAD:

The Development Squad is aimed at junior golfers who have a handicap and are regularly playing golf. The development squad is for players with a GA of 19 – 36 for boys and 28 – 45 for girls. The program is aiming to build on basic skills and techniques and utilises the DEVELOP stage of the National Golf Development Framework. The framework provides a guide as to the competencies which might be expected to be achieved if the young athlete is looking ultimately to have a career as a professional golfer

 

As players progress through the program they will be assessed by the coach and may be invited to join the Academy Squad.

  • $100 one child / $170 two children / $225 three children

ACADEMY SQUAD

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE ACADEMY SQUAD

The Academy Squad is for junior golfers who have a handicap of below 18.0 for boys and 26.0 for girls. The program is a combination of compulsory training, fitness assessments, nominated competitions and completion of development activities. The Academy program is based on the “Refine” stage from the Golf Australia Development Framework as a basis for player development. The program aims to:

  • To develop the person not only the golfer
  • Commence the education and process of long term athlete development
  • Educate players on the high performance player development and competition pathway within South Australian and Australia
  • Provision of the most appropriate environments to accelerate their learning and performance
  • Support players home based coaching and training program
  • Provide access to the Golf SA High Performance Team
  • Provide access to GolfSA technologies (eg Trackman, Puttlab, Shots to hole online statistics program)
  • Closely monitor the progress of talented juniorsCOST: ACADEMY SQUAD

  • Light lunch and refreshments at group coaching sessions
  • Two fitness assessments (additional cost)
  • Individualised home training physical development program (additional cost)
  • Rules sessions
  • Player statistics and analysis to support on course decision making
  • Academy journals and practice guide
  • Squad Uniform
  • Opportunities to be selected to compete in state and country tournamentsBoth the Development Program and Academy program will be further developed in conjunction with Golf SA’s High Performance coach after their appointment later this year.

 

GOLF SE REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

 

Members of the Golf SE Junior Development program also have the opportunity to be selected to represent Golf SE at various tournaments and team events throughout the year. The following criteria will be taken into consideration when selecting players to represent the region:

  • Player will be a member of the Golf SE Junior Program
  • Player has attended at least five coaching sessions programmed by Golf SE in the 12 months prior to the event
  • Player has achieved appropriate handicap
  • Player has participated regularly in approved golf competitions as per their Golflink handicap record.
  • Player has proved a willingness to represent his/her region and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner

 

Player Support Policy:

 

Golf SE is aware of and appreciates the personal and financial commitment required by families to support their child’s sporting endeavours. As part of our commitment to “grow the game of golf” in our region Golf SE has recently released it’s Player Support Policy for junior golfers – effective 31st October 2017. Therefore, players who participate in SE district teams, SA Country Championships, Sharp Cup and are selected for State teams events are eligible for some support (financial or in-kind) under the Policy.
